Sheersation: Art Technique to Product

By Debra on February 15, 2015

I spent a good chunk of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 on Sheersation, a window covering product.

I hereby declare Sheersation a nogo, a failure.

Sheersation was an attempt to take an art technique and translate it into a product. The paper lamination technique, fabric and paper, is labor intensive. That's not why it failed. It failed because I discovered I don't like doing motifs and I'm not willing to do the same thing over and over again. Limited editions, I suppose but not... I could make a new design for each piece. If I'm going to do that, I'm going totally back to my artwork. I have no enthusiasm or desire to do design after design for Sheersation. I do have that enthusiasm for doing it with my artwork.

I know more about a lot of things that I did before. I'm going back to may artwork and marketing that. Sheersation was a success because -

learned a very great many things about paper lamination
     started exploring internet marketing
       Seth Godin
       Jonathan Fields

My heart lies with my art and so does my mind.
